Just when you thought the discussion of sex was taboo enough, I welcome you to the act of degrading during sex. A quick google search summarizes a “degradation kink” as being the “consensual practice of using derogatory names and phrases to humiliate and degrade your partner during sex.” Degradation can fall under the sadism/masochism umbrella and can often be seen in a dominant/submissive relationship, however, note that degradation can take place outside of this dynamic. On the complete opposite side of the spectrum is the act of praise during sex, as the name suggests it is based on words of affirmation, and positive reinforcement. So why do some people enjoy these? Is it possible to find pleasure in both elements? And how can you incorporate this into your sex life?
2. So You Might Be A Sissy: A Beginner’s Guide To Sissification
Have you ever been called a sissy before? As you probably know, “sissy” is a derogatory term that’s used to describe men or boys as weak, effeminate, cowardly, and/or gay. A client comes to you—they’re looking to add some spice to their sex life. Where do they start? As a sexuality professional, what do you recommend? A fantastic way to start the conversation is by having them complete a “yes, no, maybe” checklist! In essence, the yes, no, maybe checklist is a document that contains a list of sexual activities, positions, products, kinks, fetishes, etc. and an area to mark a response of “yes,” “no,” or “maybe” to indicate your level of interest in said item. All partners in the relationship should complete the checklist separately then come together to discuss their responses. It’s important to have them fill out the list without discussing it together to eliminate any perceived pressure from their partner(s) to answer in a specific way. This activity also provides the perfect opportunity to bring up new kinks, fantasies, and activities that they’ve always been wanting to discuss, but never had the opportunity or courage to do so.

8. Sex Education Tools for the 18+ Crowd
It seems that once we reach a certain age—around 20—our sex education tools and resources (if you had any in the first place) mellow out. Websites go from brightly colored stories and games to serious-toned, professional articles, perpetuating the severe seriousness our society holds towards sex. When searching for “sex education tools,” it’s clear the target audience is children (and their parents) and teenagers. This is, by no means, a bad thing—it’s fantastic! But what about us adults? We don’t stop learning even though we’re out of school and with the rapid rate of change and growth in the sexuality community, we could all benefit from the opportunity to re-learn or continue learning. Sex is play, so shouldn’t learning about it be too? The resources below all promote the importance of playfulness in sex education as a tool to relieve pressure and allow for smoother, productive conversations.
9. Grasp Don’t Tug: How To Pull Hair
Erotic hair pulling is one of those sexy activities that are so popular many people don’t even consider it a kink. It tends to float around in the “rough sex” zone where people so often put things like spanking and biting. I don’t think this idea is particularly accurate or helpful because it lumps many diverse activities together as if being interested in one necessarily means you’re interested in others. So let’s go over different kinds of hair pulling, how to pull hair relatively safely, and all (or some, at least) of the ways hair pulling can be incorporated into activities that aren’t traditional “rough sex.”
