This course offers students the opportunity to perform a comparative analysis of sexual attitudes and behaviors in the Netherlands and the United States. The Netherlands provides a fascinating cultural contrast because, in addition to having the best sexual health outcomes in the world, the Dutch were among the first to legalize same-sex marriage, they have mandated comprehensive sex education, and they have decriminalized and regulated the sale of sex. We will explore the Dutch model of sexuality in depth and consider what we can learn from it. Students will also learn about LGBTQ issues in the Netherlands and have the opportunity to immerse themselves in Dutch culture in order to enhance their cultural sensitivity and global perspective.

Course fee is $1597 (plus fees) per student for registration.
It includes:
All lectures/workshops with Dr. Justin LehmillerAll events with guest speakers
All cultural excursions and adventures

Students are responsible for their own transportation, hotel accommodations, and meals during the program. Amsterdam's public transportation system is excellent, allowing students to opt for accommodations further from the city center to reduce costs. We will facilitate the option for students to pair up and share rooms to further minimize expenses as the program date approaches.
It is essential for students to book their own flights and hotel accommodations, aiming to arrive in Amsterdam no later than mid-afternoon on April 22nd, with activities commencing at 4:00 PM that day. For departures, students should plan to leave on April 26th or later. The group usually uses the last day (April 26th) to do go to the park, a club or more!
Additionally, feel free to extend your stay in Amsterdam before or after the course as desired. We will provide a comprehensive list of optional activities for those who want to explore more of the city. Please note that all fees are non-refundable, though they can be transferred between SHA students, programs, and events. Some activities may change depending on availability.

We stay in the city center of Amsterdam to be close to most of our activities for the week. We will meet at a central hotel most days and many students will also choose to stay at that same hotel. We will send the hotel and address soon after you reserve your spot. Please note, you can book anywhere you please - the option we send are only suggestions and our meeting point.
