Sexual Health Alliance Is The Go-To Place To Complete Your Sex Therapy Certification Requirements

A recent Forbes article published on August 22, 2023 lists Sexual Health Alliance as one of the top three options for sex therapy certification and training. The article titled Sex Therapist: What They Do And How To Find One Near You provides an overview of sex therapy and the requirements to become a sex therapist.

The Forbes publication includes common questions like “What Does a Sex Therapist Do?” and “Is Sex Therapy the Right Choice for You?”. Along with these questions is a section about how a professional therapist, medical professional, or social worker can become certified in sex therapy. The author asks Nicoletta Heidegger, a licensed marriage and family therapist and sex therapist based in Los Angeles, about the certification process in sex therapy. Nicoletta has previously presented multiple times with Sexual Health Alliance and played a significant role in launching the Sexual Health Alliance in LA and California.

“There is no national board of sex therapy, but there are certifying bodies,” says Heidegger. Just as you should in any other type of therapy, it’s always a good idea to ensure your therapist has the proper credentials, and in this case, is certified by one of these organizations, she adds (Forbes 2023).

Forbes Health listed the Sexual Health Alliance for a recommended Sex therapy certification organization alongside AASECT.

The Forbes author also consults Lyndsey Murray, M.S., licensed professional counselor and SHA & AASECT Certified sex therapist at Relationship Matters Therapy in Hurst, Texas on the topic of sex therapy. Lyndsey Murray is a Sexual Health Alliance alumni and completed all of her a Sex Therapy certification and AASECT supervision requirements with Sexual Health Alliance last year.

As the Forbes article states, it is important that your sex therapist has earned credentials from a reputable organization, such as Sexual Health Alliance, that provides AASECT-approved sex therapy courses and workshops. Sexual Health Alliance offers AASECT & state CEUs to MDs, Clinical Psychologists, LPCs, LMFTs, LCSWs, LCDCs, and sexuality professionals seeking AASECT certification. They seek to fill that knowledge gap for both seasoned and new professionals to deepen and support affirmative care.

Along with sex therapist certifications, Sexual Health Alliance provides certifications for sexuality educators, sexuality counselors, and sex coaches. Sexual Health Alliance trainings, conferences, and certification programs connect students with the leading experts in the world. Sexual Health Alliance advisory board and faculty include international experts such as Dr. Chris Donaghue, PhD, CST, Dr. David Ley, PhD, CST, CST-S, Dr. Justin J. Lehmiller, PhD, and Heather McPherson LPC-S, LMFT-S, CST-S (the co-founder of Sexual Health Alliance).
