Sexual Health Alliance Speaker David Ley

Dr. David Ley, PhD, CST-S

David Ley is a clinical psychologist in practice in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He earned his Bachelor's degree in Philosophy from Ole Miss, and his Master's and Doctoral degrees in clinical psychology from the University of New Mexico. Dr. Ley is licensed in New Mexico and North Carolina, and has provided clinical and consultative services in numerous other states. He is the Executive Director of New Mexico Solutions, a large outpatient mental health and substance abuse program in Albuquerque, NM. Dr. Ley also serves on the advisory board for the Sexual Health Alliance and leads SHA’s Sexual Attitude Reassessment or Adjustment (SAR) as well as SHA’s Advanced SARs in Mexico and Jamaica.

Dr. Ley has been treating sexuality issues throughout his career. He first began treating perpetrators and victims of sexual abuse, but expanded his approach to include the fostering and promotion of healthy sexuality, and awareness of the wide range of normative sexual behaviors. Insatiable Wives is his first book and won a Silver Medal in the Foreword Magazine Book of the Year contest for 2009. Dr. Ley wrote Insatiable Wives following two years of interviews with couples around the country. His controversial second book, The Myth of Sex Addiction was released in March 2012, challenging the concept of sexual addiction and exploring a different model of male sexuality. The Myth of Sex Addiction triggered a firestorm of debate, allowing people to finally challenge the media hype of this pseudo-disorder. His most recent book, Ethical Porn for Dicks, A Man's Guide to Responsible Viewing Pleasure has been a staple for any curious individual.

Dr. Maria Uloko

Dr. Maria Uloko is a board certified urologist specializing in comprehensive sexual health, reconstruction and prosthesis. Uniquely, she is recognized as one of the seven urologists globally providing the surgical and medical management of sexual dysfunction of all genders. With vast expertise in treating a myriad of conditions such as vulvar sexual dysfunction, sexual pain, low libido, erectile dysfunction treatments, symptomatic menopause, atrophic vaginitis, urologic prosthetic surgery, Peyronie’s disease, and hormone replacement therapy, she provides exceptional care to patients across all gender spectrums. She is a strong advocate of improving the quality of life of her patients by providing a comprehensive, compassionate, and inclusive approach to often stigmatized subjects. She believes in empowering her patients to take ownership of their sexual health by providing a shame-free space to ask questions and share their stories. She seeks to close gaps in disparities of care and implement systems that promote diversity and inclusivity.

Dr. Sonya Maya is a Doctor of Psychology and SHA Certified Sex Therapist (Class of 2024), as well as a presenter for the Sexual Health Alliance. Known as the self-proclaimed “CLITitian,” she has built a powerful digital presence with over 15,000 subscribers on YouTube and more than 671.8K followers and 9.2 million likes on TikTok. Through her engaging and boldly educational content across TikTok and Instagram, Dr. Maya is passionate about de-stigmatizing conversations around sexual health. She is especially committed to helping people understand the critical role hormones play in overall wellbeing and empowering individuals with accurate, accessible information that supports healthier, more informed lives.
