Information for Add-On AASECT Group Supervision Services or SHA Sex Therapy or Sex Counselor Tuition Included Supervision Services

In SHA supervision groups, you can expect to review current clients dealing with sexuality issues, discuss required readings, and receive guidance from supervisors. These are interactive groups held via Zoom. We also enroll you into a course in our online learning platform where you can access the resources, readings due, and Zoom links.



If you are enrolled in sex therapy tuition-included supervision:

For AASECT Sex Therapy Supervision that is included in tuition: 50 hours are required and 25 of those can be done in a group format. Since group sessions are four hours in length, you will have six group sessions (equaling 24 hours) and 26 hours of individual supervision. 


  • Only one group session can be attended per month. Please plan for a minimum of six months of supervision (six sessions at four hours each). 

  • AASECT also requires that CST applicants have at least 20 individual supervision hours with the primary supervisor (meaning one supervisor).

After you have paid your first tuition payment:

  • After payment, you will be added to the Supervision module in Learnworlds where you'll find required documents for supervision as well as an information form where you'll upload the completed documents.

  • You will be sent a link where you can reserve group supervision dates via a ticketing system. 

  • Before each group supervision session, you will be sent an email with the Zoom link and any required reading documents. 

  • If all supervision sessions are full, please sign up for a waitlist ticket and be on the lookout for an email with additional supervision dates 

  • After you have completed three group supervision sessions, email shacertifications@gmail.com and you will be assigned an individual supervisor


SHA is Now Offering Supervision for Sexuality Counselors!

  • This program includes the 30 hours of supervision required for AASECT certification. 

  • In this program, students will receive 12 hours of group supervision (3 groups that are 4 hours long) and 18 hours of individual supervision. 

Here are the AASECT guidelines for Sexuality Counselor Supervision:

The applicant shall have completed a minimum of thirty (30) hours of supervision with an AASECT Certified Sexuality Counselor Supervisor or an AASECT Certified Sex Therapist Supervisor. Minimum duration of supervision shall be twelve (12) to eighteen (18) months. Total number of supervision hours that will count towards certification will not exceed six (6) hours per month.

If you wish to enroll in the sexuality counselor program with supervision services, the total cost is $8,097

If you are already a sexuality counselor student and wish to add on supervision services, the cost is $2,600

Once your payment has been made, you will be enrolled in the supervision course on our online learning platform. There you will be prompted to upload your supervision documents and provided a link to schedule your group sessions. Students will be assigned an individual supervisor via email. 


Sex Therapy Supervision:

If you purchase group supervision sessions in packages of three (12 hours total) or six (24 hours total):

IMPORTANT DETAILS FOR ALL GROUP SESSIONS:

  • You MUST register in advance as groups fill quickly.

  • You have up to 48 hours before the group to change/cancel without that group’s fee being forfeited.

Kelvin Pace Supervisor in Training

Kelvin Pace, MS, LPC-S, CST

Kelvin graduated with a master’s in clinical psychology from the University of Alaska Anchorage in 2009. He has been a LPC supervisor for two years and he has been an AASECT certified therapist for 3 years. 

Kelvin is the owner of KpaceCounseling, LLC where he serves clients in private practice. He does contract work with Full Spectrum Health as a behavioral health clinician where he works with an integrated care team delivering evidenced based care to persons of the LGBTQ+ community. Kelvin has worked for a local non-profit delivering mental health services to children and young adults that have suffered from complex trauma. With a firm foundation in trauma, he delivers trauma informed sex positive therapy to his clients. Kelvin provides services to couples and individuals dealing with sexual or relationship issues that include low desire, anxiety surrounding sex, and infidelity. His current focus is on mindfulness based interventions to manage sexual concerns and he works with persons that are either in or looking to explore non-traditional relationship orientations that fall under the umbrella of consensual/ethical non-monogamy. 


DAVID LEY, PH.D., CST-S

David Ley is a clinical psychologist in practice in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He earned his Bachelor's degree in Philosophy from Ole Miss, and his Master's and Doctoral degrees in clinical psychology from the University of New Mexico. Dr. Ley is licensed in New Mexico and North Carolina, and has provided clinical and consultative services in numerous other states. He is the Executive Director of New Mexico Solutions, a large outpatient mental health and substance abuse program in Albuquerque, NM. Dr. Ley also serves on the advisory board for the Sexual Health Alliance.

Dr. Ley has been treating sexuality issues throughout his career. He first began treating perpetrators and victims of sexual abuse, but expanded his approach to include the fostering and promotion of healthy sexuality, and awareness of the wide range of normative sexual behaviors. Insatiable Wives is his first book and won a Silver Medal in the Foreword Magazine Book of the Year contest for 2009. Dr. Ley wrote Insatiable Wives following two years of interviews with couples around the country. His controversial second book, The Myth of Sex Addiction was released in March 2012, challenging the concept of sexual addiction and exploring a different model of male sexuality. The Myth of Sex Addiction triggered a firestorm of debate, allowing people to finally challenge the media hype of this pseudo-disorder. His new book Ethical Porn for Dicks, A Man's Guide to Responsible Viewing Pleasureis due out in Summer/Fall 2016. Dr. Ley may be contacted via email through the Psychology Today website.



HEATHER MCPHERSON, MA, LPC-S, LMFT-S, CST-S

Heather McPherson is the CEO/Founder The Sexual Health Alliance and also maintains a private practice (respark.co) that serves Colorado, Washington and Texas specializing in sexuality and relationships. She is published in Playboy Magazine as well as Playboy Online, and has been featured on CNN, Parent Harald and TeenSafe websites. Heather McPherson has lectured at prestigious Universities including University of Texas at Austin, Texas State University and Governors State University in Chicago. She is an AASECT Certified Sex Therapist Supervisor, Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist Supervisor (LMFT-S) and a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor (LPC-S). She also is the Texas Section Leader for AASECT (American Association for Sexuality Educators, Counselors & Therapists). She has appeared on several podcasts and was invited to speak at NerdNite in Austin on relationships and sexuality. Heather helps clients gain confidence, rebuild trust, increase playfulness, and find passion and meaning in their erotic lives. Heather graduated from Texas State University with a MA in Marriage, Couple and Family Therapy; a CACREP Accredited Program.
