Are you a kink-aware therapist, kink positive therapist, educator, coach, or consultant who works with individuals engaging in kink, BDSM, and alternative sexuality? Do you strive to serve your clients’ needs through non-judgmental sex-positivity, while celebrating their diversity in sexual expression?
Even with the best of intentions, many professionals lack access to additional training that would allow for their practice to be truly kink-aware or kink positive. Lack of current education can potentially lead to causing harm to the client by unknowingly introducing sex-negative stereotypes or misinformation into session.
With this training, you will be able to better provide for clients’ needs around sexuality around those that engage in kink, BDSM, and alternative sexuality.
Sexual Health Alliance along with Midori, have created KIC, the Kink Informed Certification Program that educates therapists, coaches, educators, as well as other sexuality experts about kink, BDSM, and alternative sexuality which provides you with all the tools needed to truly become a kink-aware or kink-positive therapist or professional.
Problem sexual behavior can include any sexual expression that leads people to seek treatment or assistance:
Infidelity
Values conflicts
Problematic pornography use
Relationship conflicts over the type or frequency of sex.
Legal or financial problems
Sex-drug linked behaviors
Historically, these issues were viewed as a symptom of a sex addiction. Groundbreaking new research indicates that self-identifying as a porn or sex addict likely increases people’s pain and suffering over time. Rather than a symptom of a sexual disorder, current research suggests that people seeking treatment for sexual behavior problems are a heterogeneous group with varying underlying problems and individual needs. As such, the PSB Certification Program will train you on providing the most up-to-date and effective treatment approaches to meet the diverse needs of these clients including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, The Out of Control Sexual Behavior Model, psychopharmacology, and much more.
The Sexual Health Alliance, along with industry-leading experts, Dr. David Ley and Michael Vigorito, have designed this program as a sex-positive and evidence-based alternative to the outdated sex addiction treatment model.
AASECT & SHA Sex Therapy Supervision:
Add on AASECT & SHA Supervision services. If you’re going on to be AASECT Certified, you must complete supervision.
TOP TIP! You are required to be under supervision for a minimum of 18 months, get a contract in place early/now!
Choose from Group Only OR Group and Individual supervision. Group occurs every other month on a Wednesday for 4 hours. You will meet for group six times total. Group is currently with Dr. David Ley, CSTS and Heather McPherson, LPC-S, LMFT-S, CST & Kelvin Pace, CST
*Please note: If you are an educator or counselor going for AASECT Certification, your hours requirements are different. You may be able to do a limited number of hours here, however you will also have to obtain an AASECT Supervisor that is an educator or counselor. SHA is in the works of adding a Sexuality Educator Supervisor: Ask us to put you on the waiting list!

Important Conference Information
You are required to attend 3 two-day conferences total (6 total days) LIVE/synchronously during your time in the program. They are typically held Fridays & Saturdays and occasionally on Saturdays and Sundays. The three two-day conferences are included in the price of tuition and these must be attended LIVE aka synchronously for credit via Zoom.
If you are planning on attending, you are required to register for your tickets so we can get a proper headcount. If for whatever reason, you register and cannot attend, you are required to email SHA Staff to let them know that you will not be in attendance so they can update your registration.

Virtual SHA mixer meet and greet & Happy Hours!
SHA mixers are once a month on the 2nd Friday at 1:30pm CST on Zoom.
Virtual Happy Hours happen once a month on Zoom. They are typically the 4th Wednesday of every month at 6:30pm CST.
